Employment Readiness
The Oakcrest Teen Center offers One-on-One job readiness coaching as well as group workshops for students. There is also a job posting display board located in the Teen Center.
For students that desire a more intense work readiness training the Teen Center also conducts test preparation for the National Work Readiness Credential. The Oakcrest Teen Center is 1 of 9 approved testing sites in the state of New Jersey and 1 of only 3 in Southern New Jersey. The National Work readiness credential (NWRC) is the first National standards-based assessment for entry-level workers to provide a universal, transferable, national standard for work readiness. The NWRC will benefit our students in demonstrating to employers that they have the skills to successfully perform in entry-level jobs.
Freshman Transition Program
The Transition Program is designed to ease the transition from middle school to high school. The program uses trained student mentors to facilitate interactive workshops. Topics covered include adjustment to change, time management, and academic achievement. Each year the student mentors also help to host the freshman orientation held in August.
